I've always liked the actual case of these episodes. It's so ingenious and well thought out. Idk just something about is really cool to me. I think this is definitely one of, if not my favorite flashbacks of the show.
Although the motive was definitely a bit wack (like girl he's not gonna be able to play Micheal now that he's dead) but she seems crazed enough that it still works

And the serial killer part after that is also really cool and suspenseful with the perfect amount of unanswered questions and hints for the Vermouth arc and who Akai is. And it was really sad seeing Ran blame herself for that guy's death and it's a nice show of her character
Big spoiler btwAnd knowing ahead of time that Vermouth was disguised as the serial killer, it's nice to see why she likes Shinichi and Ran so much and is opposed to killing them, simply because they saved her. And maybe even using Shinichi's logic of "is a reason necessary" for wanting to keep them alive

Idk it's all just really good and ties in well and it's nice to see Shinichi once in a while

The way I see it, Shinichi and Ran gave her hope that day. It relit a long dead spark in her.

You can't convince me Vermouth didn't know Conan is Shinichi all along. If she was truly their enemy, this would have been a short series.

I assume she would have guessed .She probably didn’t want to say anything til they met face to face again but I haven’t seen vermouth encounter conan yet in the series at the moment
